Arab foreign ministers will meet in Cairo next month to follow up on the Arab summit that pledged solidarity with the Palestinians in their struggle against Israel.
Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud was invited to a meeting in Cairo on November 4, along with foreign ministers of Syria, Jordan and the Palestinians, a government official told AFP.
The invitation was sent by Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa, whose country hosted the October 21-22 Arab summit and held the rotating presidency of annual Arab summits, he said.
"The November 4 meeting was meant to follow up on resolutions adopted at the summit in order to assess what has been achieved so far," he said.
Arab leaders at the end of their two-day summit in October backed the Palestinian uprising and established funds for the victims of clashes with Israeli forces and to ease their economic dependence on Israel.
But they stopped short of scrapping Arab ties with the Jewish state, although a number of Arab states have since closed down liaison offices with Israel.
