Arab foreign ministers started talks in Egypt on Thursday ahead of an Arab summit aimed at averting war.
The ministers, including two delegates from Iraq, held informal consultations to prepare for Saturday's one-day Arab League summit in Egypt's Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
"Whatever the threats are, we should work until the last minute and exert efforts to avoid it," Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher told reporters.
"We have to do whatever we can. So when the leaders meet with the goal of avoiding war, you must trust that they will do everything that is possible," he said.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Naji Sabri said he hoped the summit would reflect the views of Arabs "who are very angry (about) the colonial war plan of Washington" and other "warmongers."
Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammed Mehdi Saleh, who was also in Sharm el-Sheikh, said: "We will make Iraq a grave for anyone who enters Iraq. It will be a new Vietnam." (Albawaba.com)
