The Aqsa Martyrs Groups, a newly formed Palestinian military movement has assailed Secretary General of the Palestinian Presidency, Teyeb Abdul Rahim, accusing him of selling out the rights of the Palestinians and calling on President Yasser Arafat to sack him.

In a heated statement faxed to Albawaba.com on Tuesday, the group attacked the senior official for a meeting he held with Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh at Beit Hanoun [Erez] crossing point in Gaza on November 23rd.

Addressing the Palestinian people, the statement said “while your blessed Intifada is still raging, and you recite verses by the late poet Abdul Rahim Mahmoud [Tayeb’s father]” calling for sacrificing ourselves for our homeland, “people from the Fifth Column come to undermine what has been achieved, with the so-called Secretary General of the Palestinian Presidency, Teyeb Abdul Rahim ahead of them. He has turned his back on the words of his great father.”

The statement accused Abdul Rahim of hypocrisy. It said that he calls for the continuation of the Intifada in public, while holding backdoor meetings with Israeli officials, with whom he agrees to re-coordinate security arrangements and chase the strugglers and the mujahideen.

The Aqsa Martyrs Groups have since the outbreak of the Intifada claimed responsibility for three attacks on Israeli targets – Albawaba.com
