An American man who went missing while scuba diving was found dead at sea near this eastern Philippine city on Thursday, his family and friends said.
The decomposing corpse of Boylan Preston, 45, a native of Detroit, bore no signs of foul play but police have not declared the cause of death pending an autopsy, his Filipina wife Teresita Preston told reporters.
She said her husband, a retired Peace Corps volunteer, went on a solo dive in the Albay Gulf earlier this week but failed to return home. The local navy, coastguard and friends launched a search but failed to find him, associates said.
Preston's corpse, still clad in scuba diving gear, was found by fishermen off the nearby town of Santo Domingo, his wife said.
Preston came to the Philippines as a Peace Corps volunteer in 1982 and never left, she said -- LEGASPI, Philippines (AFP)
