When All Saint Melanie Blatt’s mother told her she had breast cancer, the star simply shrugged it off; because she didn't think it was a big deal.
It is only now, 10 years later, that the sexy singer, mother of
two-year-old daughter Lilyella, realizes just how much her French mum Helen, who survived her battle, sheltered her from the truth.
Melanie says, "I don't know how she did it, but mum underplayed
it so much that I grew up thinking it was no big deal.
"I thought everyone's mum went off to chemo and had to go to the
bed in the afternoon when she was sick.
"Even when her hair fell out, mum didn't worry. She used to say
she had too much hair anyway. We used to joke about the fact the
mum had hair under just one armpit.
"It was years later, when I heard other people talking about
breast cancer that I realized how sheltered I'd been." – Wenn.
