Algerian foreign minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem met in Damascus on Tuesday with his Syrian counterpart Farouq al-Sharaa during which they discussed the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian occupied territories due to Israel's aggression.
The meeting took place prior to the Algerian-Syrian economic cooperation joint committee meeting during which Belkhadem is representing his country, according to KUNA.
Syrian media reports said Belkhadem's talks with al-Sharaa dealt with the serious conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories as well as bilateral relations.
Several days ago, KUNA added, Belkhadam phoned al-Sharaa and talked with him about ways to support the Palestinians’ resistance in confronting Israel, according to decisions issued during the recent Arab summit held in Beirut.
Belkhadem arrived in the Syrian capital earlier Tuesday to chair his country's delegation attending the joint committee meetings to discuss with Syrian senior officials the latest developments in both the Arab and international dimensions. (Albawaba.com)
