Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem will chair the Algerian delegation, which will take part in the 11th ministerial session of the Mediterranean forum, scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2004 in Paris.

This meeting, which took place in an international framework, marked by the aggravation of the situation in the Palestinian occupied territories and the Iraqi issue, "will allow the forum member countries to examine the situation prevailing in the Mediterranean basin as well as questions linked to the political partnership and security, notably in the fight against terrorism", a communiqué from the Foreign Ministry stressed Saturday, according to APS.

European initiatives such as the strategic partnership between the EU and the Mediterranean region and the Middle-East as well as the initiative relating to the European policy of neighbourhood will be examined by this conference.

Economic and cultural cooperation as well as human exchanges between the forum member countries will be reviewed during talks between Foreign Ministries attending this meeting, the communiqué added.

The 11th edition of the Mediterranean, which will bring together Foreign Ministers of north and south Mediterranean bordering countries, will be chaired by the French Foreign Minister. (Albawaba.com)
