ALBAWABA - The Syrian presidency confirmed on Sunday that President Ahmed al-Shara received an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to join the emergency Arab summit scheduled on March 4.

The Egyptian president has allocated March 4 to host an Arab summit to discuss the Palestinian Gaza Strip's fate following the ceasefire, especially after the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump that the US should take over Gaza and Palestinians should be moved out.

Reuters praised to Egypt's invitation as a major step toward rebuilding Damascus' relations with the Arab world after the fall of former president Bashar Assad last December.

Last month, al-Sharaa was announced as president of the transitional phase in Syria, following the fall of the Assad regime on December 8, after an operation was launched by the Syrian opposition on November 27.
