Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on Wednesday that any decisions regarding Iran's nuclear program made by the west would have no bearing on Iran.
"Europe and the West are closing their doors to negotiation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and their decision can only lead to their isolation in the world community," Ahmadinejad told reporters, according to IRNA.
The president made the comments while on a three-day visit to the southern Iranian province of Bushehr.
He added that the west's arguments were "medieval," and that he regretted the damage done to the reputation of international bodies by their recent actions.
"We do all we can to have wholesome political relations with them, but when they insist on their wrong moves we cannot do anything else," he said.
Ahmadinejad's statement came one day after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed that Iran had sought and obtained diagrams on the black market to make an atomic warhead, according to the AP.
The IAEA also noted that despite Iran's announcement last month that it would resume uranium enrichment, it had yet to do so.
The discover of the warhead related diagrams increases pressure to refer Iran to the United Nations Security Council, a move that Iran said would result in resumption of its nuclear activities.
"If it happens, the government will be required under the law to end the suspension of all nuclear activities it has voluntarily halted," Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday.
Iran insists that its nuclear program is for civilian energy purposes, while many in the west fear that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons.
