ADC Honors Winners of Second Annual Small Projects Award 2009
The Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the central development body for ASEZ, announced the winners of the 2009 annual award for small distinguished projects, held under the patronage of ASEZA’s Chief Commissioner Eng. Husni Abu Ghaida.
The Small Projects Award was launched by ADC in 2007 to recognize and reward creative entrepreneurs to encourage them to become pioneers while others follow in their footsteps. This is the second consecutive year that ADC presents the award, and this year 18 projects competed and three were rewarded, including an award granted to a special needs recipient.
ADC’s CEO Eng. Imad Fakhoury said that the award aims at honoring projects that positively affect the community and recipients that make use of their creativity and innovation, which fall in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to eliminate poverty and unemployment. Fakhoury added that to achieve this objective, a bigger role is required to enforce the culture of independency and innovation.
In cooperation with loans institutions, ADC nominated eligible projects for the award according to specific criteria. A special committee, made up of credible experts, was formed to cooperate and coordinate with concerned parties for a transparent and objective evaluation process. These efforts fall in line with ADC’s responsibility towards social initiatives, which is a main part of ADC’s plans and strategies.
