ALBAWABA - New York If President Joe Biden does not resign from the presidential campaign, significant Democratic donors will halt a $90 million gift to Future Forward, a pro-Biden super PAC.
Talks for a rematch with former President Donald Trump have risen after President Biden's live debate performance. The New York Times reported that top Democratic funders called Biden's June 27 debate a "fiasco." In response, Future Forward conducted internal research and found that Biden was less popular than Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Future Forward, Biden's main super PAC in early 2024, has earmarked $250 million for television and digital ads for November. The PAC and its allies have raised $430 million for Biden.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told his Democratic colleagues about his Biden conversation, voicing his worries. Colorado Representative Brittany Pettersen and California Representative Mike Levin have openly asked Biden to resign. Levin became the 19th Democratic member to ask for new leadership in the election.
Youth climate movement "Sunrise Movement" also urged Biden to pass over leadership. The group's president, Aru Shiney-Ajay, doubted Biden could mobilize young voters for November.
The Sunrise Movement helped Biden win young voters in 2020 and has worked with his administration on climate policies.
In the first live debate on June 27, Biden, 81, struggled to handle age issues and was criticized. Democratic leaders, the New York Times, and celebrities like George Clooney have urged Biden to get out. Despite his health issues, Biden believes he is the finest choice to face Trump and has refused to resign.
