809 Aids Cases Officially Reported in Morocco Since 1986

Since the first AIDS case appeared in Morocco in 1986, the number of persons affected by the disease in Morocco has reached 809 cases officially reported up to September 30th, 2000, according to Maghrib Agency Press (MAP). 

A statement of the health ministry was quoted by the agency as saying that the epidemic pace in Morocco remains relatively slow but there is an increase in the number of cases over the years. 

In Morocco, most of AIDS cases were transmitted in heterosexual intercourse (68% of cases) and 66% of cases are affecting mean, said MAP -- Albawaba.com
