700 chefs from all over GCC to gather at Times Square Center for the 2008 Junior Chef Awards
The DSS 2008 Mega Event is an acclaimed culinary recognition of talented chefs
The Junior Chef Awards, one of the Mega Events for DSS 2008 and an acclaimed culinary contest in the region, is back this year to select the 2008 Middle East Junior Chef of the Year, in a one-week event being held at Times Square Center from June 26 to July 2. The event, organized by the Emirates Culinary Guild and Mindset, is one among the much awaited events during summer.
The Emirates Culinary Guild, an association for chefs in the UAE, will be the facilitator of the competition, apart from playing a crucial role in the workshops and cooking demonstrations.
Shaikha Al Jassmi, Events Coordinator at Dubai Shopping Festival said, “The Junior Chef Awards is a DSS Mega Event that has become an important fixture in the itinerary of the summer extravaganza. The culinary fiesta is just one among the numerous events lined up this DSS and represents the variety of entertainment options available to visitors and residents.”
Around 800 chefs from around the GCC are expected to take part in the exciting show of culinary expertise. Chefs of the rank Chef de Partie or below are allowed to participate in the competition that had a jury of master chefs from around the world last year.
The 2008 Junior Chef Awards will include categories that test the creativity and pure culinary talent of participants. Pastry showpiece, chocolate carving, fruit and vegetable carving, five-course gourmet dinner menu, new Arabian cuisine, and ice carving are part of the competition.
The jury for this year includes master chefs from around the world such as Alessandro Haab, Gavin Duthie, Heinz Kohler, Hubert Oberhollenzer, Raman Khanna, and Bien Chavez, all of whom are renowned authorities in the culinary industry.
