ALBAWABA- A moderate earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 struck Southern California early Monday morning, centered near the mountain town of Julian, located about 60 miles east of San Diego, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake, which hit around 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) south of Julian, sent tremors across San Diego County and was felt as far north as Los Angeles.
Light fixtures swayed, and shelves rattled in several areas, but no significant damage or injuries have been reported.
Both the San Diego County police and sheriff’s departments confirmed they received no emergency calls related to the quake. A local firefighter at the Julian fire station also noted there were no damage reports or service requests.
Julian, a scenic mountain town known for its apple pies and historic charm, experienced only minor disturbances. Riley Ozuna, owner of Julian Café & Bakery, reported a few cups fell to the ground, but reassured, “Everything is OK.”
