ALBAWABA- A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck near the coast of western Turkey recently, following a 4-magnitude tremor near the Dead Sea felt by residents in Jordan and Israel two days prior.

Frank Hoogerbeets, a geologist and researcher from the Netherlands known for his earthquake predictions, has confirmed the recent Turkish quake and warns of potential building stress in northwestern Turkey.

His previous forecasts gained significant attention after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria last year, which resulted in approximately 60,000 casualties and widespread destruction.

The February 6, 2023, quakes included a magnitude 7.8 earthquake near the Syrian border in southern Turkey, followed by a 7.5-magnitude quake later the same day. These events marked the most severe seismic activity in Turkey in over two decades, comparable in strength to the 1939 earthquake and centered near Gaziantep, a key area for Syrian refugees and humanitarian aid organizations.
