ALBAWABA- An active shooter incident has shaken Florida State University's Tallahassee campus, leaving four students killed, prompting lockdowns and widespread panic around the student union on Thursday at midday.
Disturbing footage captured the chaos as students and staff fled the area.
A university alert confirmed that police were already on-site, with additional units en route to secure the scene. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether there have been any further injuries.
Meteorology student Garrett Harvey shared a video showing people running across Tennessee Street, stating, “There is a shooting around the student union. People are running across TN Street.”
Another student, Ryan Cedergren, who was inside the student union during the incident, wrote on social media: “We were just evacuated by police and are safe.
Sending fervent prayers to all impacted, and huge thank you to FSU police, Tallahassee police, and everyone who came to help.”
Law enforcement has urged residents and students in the area to remain indoors, lock their doors, and stay away from windows as the situation continues to unfold.
The university has yet to release an official update regarding the shooter or potential casualties.
