2nd Talent Festival proves a huge success; closing ceremony on March 21
Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) will hold the concluding ceremony of the 2nd annual Talent Festival on March 21 at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry hall.
The Festival, organized under the theme, “Together, We Add Colour to Life”, has generated tremendous participation from school children, parents, teachers and other education professionals. Prizes and certificates will be presented to winners of contests, conducted as part of the event, at the closing ceremony.
Mrs. Norma Mohammed Sulaiman, Director of SMCCU, said: “The main aim of the Festival is to help build a balanced generation of citizens who can take pride in their heritage, customs and traditions. The new generation should possess a clear perspective about the future, making use of modern day tools to achieve goals and accomplish the vision of Dubai.
“The festival has received an outstanding response from children through their participation in various contests and activities. Over 100 talented girls from 20 Dubai schools contested in the different events. Winners of the four award categories – Poetry Recitation, Poetry Writing, Singing, and Best Stage Performance – will be announced at the closing ceremony. We have received a large number of excellent poetry entries and we are looking forward to help nourish these remarkable talents.”
Apart from the contests, the children actively took part in several other activities aimed at personality development and confidence building. They included lectures and sessions on subjects such as “Etiquette,” “Developing Intelligence Ethics”, “Beauty at Your Fingertips”, “Internet, Your Close Friend”, “Arranging Priorities”, “Self Confidence”, and “Improving Memory Lane”.
Parents also had their fair share of participation in the Festival. Workshops were conducted for them on topics such as “Building Better Understanding with Children”, “Just Parenting”, “Training Children to be Responsible”, “Rid Your Children of Stubbornness and Lying”, “My Beloved Husband … Let Us Speak”, and “What Type of Mother Are You?”
In addition to these, the Festival’s programmes included workshops for teachers and other educational staff on subjects close to their daily professional activities such as “Your Hidden Skills”, “Art of Recitation”, “Art of Persuasion”, “Dealing with Pressure”, “Boundless Communication Skills”, and “Overcoming Adolescent Depression”.
The closing ceremony will also honour the sponsors who helped make this year’s event a huge success. The sponsors included Dutco, Sundos Contracting, Al Manara Jewellery, Nature Construction, World View Communications, Al Shafar General Contracting Co., Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Al Itihad Co-operative Society.
