Twenty three villagers in Pakistan drowned when two tractor-driven carts carrying 50 revelers celebrating the Muslim Eid al-Fitr festival collided and fell into a canal, state-run television said Friday.
The accident occurred late Thursday in central Punjab province amid the festivities marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The station said 20 people swam to safety, while only nine bodies had been recovered.
The search continued Friday for the remaining missing -- ISLAMABAD (AFP)
