Twenty people were killed when an overloaded boat ferrying more than 50 passengers turned over on the Wuhe River in central China's Anhui province, the state press reported Sunday.
The accident occurred around mid-day Friday with 12 passengers drowning on the scene and eight others dying after being brought to hospitals in Haozhou city, the Beijing Youth Daily said.
Investigators blamed boat operators for the disaster, saying the vessel was designed to carry only 20 passengers, the report said.
