170 Tons of Unfit Food Destroyed in Qatar

A total of 170 tons of foodstuff were destroyed during June by the Doha municipality as they were found unfit for human consumption, Gulf Times reported Monday. 

Quoting a report from the Qatari ministry of municipal affairs and agriculture, the destroyed food included fish and shrimps, meat, pastries, and mineral water, said the paper. 

The foodstuffs were confiscated from 3,264 shops, production facilities, restaurants, groceries, juice stalls, bakeries, co-operatives, butcheries, warehouses, hotels, and coffee shops. The ministry inspectors made 6,330 visits to such establishments during the month, the daily said – Albawaba.com
