The 12th Congress of the UNFT (Union of Tunisian Women) organized under the patronage of Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, was held from March 19 until March 21 with the slogan “the Tunisian women, modernity, responsibility and excellence”. <i>La Presse</i> reports that 1,200 members of different female organizations inside and outside the country participated in the conference.
The program of the event included two workshops with the themes “Women and modern technologies of the communication" and "Women and the sustainable development". With this conference, UNFT aims to encourage women to adhere to the advanced technologies and to reinforce the presence of Tunisian women in the social, economical, political and scientific fields.
