The historian Abdallah Laroui’s book “Morocco and Hassan II- a Testimony” published simultaneously by Les Presses Inter Universitaires in Québec-Canada and by the Cultural Arab Centre in Casablanca-Maroc. The book is about the reign of Hassan II, who is the father of the current Moroccan king Mohammed VI.

In “Morocco and Hassan II - a Testimony,” Laroui stresses that with the Constitution of 1962, Hassan II made Islam the religion of the Kingdom and made the King “Amir Al-Muminin” (Commander of the believers), adding that the King was not ready to delegate the power to a party. “Hassan II has his special place in the gallery of the big sovereigns of Morocco,” writes Laroui.
