The legendary Ford Mustang's new model has leaped into 2011 with a series of awards that confirm once more that the legend is back. After a few hugely successful months in the market, the 2011 Ford Mustang has been awarded Gulf News' WHEELS Magazine Car of the year 2010 in the Sports Coupe category, as well as EVO Middle East Magazine's 2010 Muscle Car of the Year.

“The new 5.0-litre V8 is a gem and makes this already accomplished coupé even better. The V6 version, meanwhile, offers an excellent performance-per-dirham ratio. It’s a worthy winner,” said Amit Benjamin, Editor of WHEELS.

"The new Mustang is a deserving winner of the EVO Middle East Muscle Car of the Year award. It's a vehicle that has reignited people's passion for the pony car and the new 5.0-litre V8 engine is a revelation,” said Bassam Kronfli, Editor-in-Chief, EVO Middle East.

But the new model is no stranger to recognitions since its debut. Just recently, Popular Mechanics also selected it as Top Performance Car of 2011 as part of its Auto Excellence Awards. Additionally, top automotive publication Car and Driver named the 2011 Mustang GT one of its 10 best cars for 2011

Hussein Murad, Ford Middle East's director of Sales said: “We are thrilled with these recognitions. The Mustang is a legendary model that enjoys an uninterrupted heritage of nearly five decades of power, performance and that unmistakable engine roar that says it all. We've had an amazing response right across the region since the new models hit the showrooms a few months ago, and it seems that industry experts and our customers love the new model as much as we do!”

The new version of Ford Mustang, available with all-new 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 powertrains, was unleashed in the region last November and hasn't stopped capturing the hearts of performance car lovers since, thanks to its exciting new innovations and technologies.

Ford engineers worked to improve the performance of this legendary sport car and added even more technology features: it is the first car ever with all-aluminum Duratec 3.7-liter DOHC Ti-VCT V-6 that delivers NET 305hp and 31mpg (13.18 km/litre) highway; it has an all-new aluminum 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which uses advanced technology to deliver NET 412hp and class-leading fuel economy of 26 mpg (11 km/litre) highway; and it gives the option of an all-new- six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission.
