Dogs: Iran's political animals
Last week, IranWire published a photograph that’s really painful to look at. It shows two people in a vet’s office crying because their dog has just been shot. Their names are Parvaneh and Ashkan. They are mother and son. Ashkan had just taken their dog, Bobby, to Kouhsar Park in Tehran for a walk. He says a policeman approached Bobby, who was a seven year old female, pulled out his gun, and shot her in the neck.

Conceived for a UK tour, the first in Britain by this dynamic theatre company from Jenin, it premiered in Manchester before opening in London on May 19th. In front of the venue, the Battersea Arts Centre, theatregoers were greeted by a Zionist group demonstrating and leafleting against the play. Yet again, the basic right of Palestinian freedom is threatened.

Why Tadmur (Palmyra) broke my silence on Syria

I’d go to the Byblos citadel and spend most of my time in the courtyards trying to find a secret Phoenician tomb so I can open the sarcophagus and discover who lays in it. Tadmur, honestly had the most awe-inspiring ancient ruins I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s an almost completely intact entire city that dates back two millennia in the middle of the desert between Damascus and Raqqa.
