Masdar Institute invites UAE national applicants to apply for summer internships

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology today announced the launch of its summer internship program targeting academically talented UAE national students passionate about finding innovative solutions to energy, sustainability and environmental issues.
Scheduled to commence on July 3, the Masdar Institute Research Experiences for Undergraduate Students (MI-REUS) program will run for five weeks and is open to UAE nationals who are university seniors and/or those graduating this year. The deadline for applications is June 23.
The MI-REUS summer interns will work closely with Masdar Institute faculty and graduate students to conduct exciting research in energy, environment or sustainability. They will also be given opportunitiesto explore career and graduate school options through the MI-REUS experiences.
Interns will be provided with university housing, a monthly stipend as well as the chance to gain valuable research and professional experience.
Interested university students need to complete the online application that can be accessed from the MI website under the sub-section ‘Outreach Programs’. Completed applications identifying the specific project a candidate prefers to work on need to be submitted with all necessary documents before June 23.
Eligible applicants must be majoring in science, engineering or IT and are also required to have a GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). An IELTS score of at least 6.0 (or equivalent) is mandatory along with a letter of recommendation.

“Additionally, MI-REUS also offers an ideal opportunity for students from the engineering, IT and science streams to explore the prospects of charting a professional career in the renewable and clean technology industries. We are confident a large number of university students will utilize this summer training at MI for a better future.”
Interns are being sought for a number of research projects including micro-fabrication for amorphous photonics, assessment of the heating value of the different waste stream followed by power plant electric production and balance of the plant, field study of the retrieved wind energy from our installed 3.5KW wind turbine, effect of the fuel/oxidizer mixing and incomplete conversion on the fuel cell performance, supervisory control of a humanoid robot, prediction of hydro-climatic variables in the UAE, technology strategy in the renewable energy industry, and membrane for desalination and pre-treatment systems.
