Yesterday marked the final day of Careers UAE 2011, the platform used to launch the Majid bin Mohammed Training Initiative that has proven to be a key success in advancing employment opportunities among UAE nationals.

Over 2,000 potential candidates visited the stand of The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority at Careers UAE 2011 to submit their applications and interact with leading HR managers and recruitment executives from 10 principal multinational and national organizations. Ensuring international standards, “Profiles International”, one of the prominent partners, conducted psychometric testing with a large number of applicants to determine the appropriate arrangement between employer and employee.

Following the initial assessments and interviews held at the stand, candidates will be screened by the committee of the Majid bin Mohammed Training Initiative. Meetings will then be held with the initiative’s partners in order to channel the candidates in the perspective direction, along with scheduling interviews for the applicants with the respective establishments, which will potentially see them carry out an internship under the direction of the Majid bin Mohammed Training Initiative starting in June of this year.

Chosen candidates will participate in one of the three programmes of the initiative, including the Management Training Program, which will place candidates with one of the global partners, and the National Coaching Program, that will allow members to train in one of the leading national companies. The third programme will be on going throughout the year, and candidates contacted as openings avail. The Private Office of HH Sheikh Majid will continue to monitor the performance of the chosen applicants and provide a monthly allowance throughout the duration of the internship.

In addition to interest from a large number of UAE national applicants, the Majid bin Mohammed Training Initiative also showed immense interest from non-partnering companies who expressed their interest in joining the initiative and creating more opportunities for nationals through additional training programs. A second group of companies will be chosen to join impending initiatives that will be launched throughout the year.

Marwan bin Bayat, the General Manager of the Office of HH Sheikh Majid, commented: “We are pleased with this year’s success, and the tremendous interest in the youth, from all over the UAE, as well as companies from the private sector who have shown interest, and are anxious to join us in the coming year, for the continuing benefit for our nationals, and the enduring improvements to our community.”

The initiative also attracted a number of companies from the private sector who are eager to employ candidates upon completion of their internships. This reflects the core values of the initiative, which aims to equip nationals with principal training and development to generate career opportunities, to secure their futures and improve their livelihoods.

Bin Bayat said: “We are thrilled to encounter such strong positive feedback from additional companies who expressed their interest in hiring applicants upon the completion of their internships. This reflects the sentiment that companies value employees who have trained and developed with leading companies, as they are sure to become an asset to their organizations in the future.” He continues, “The programme provides an invaluable head start, allowing nationals to train with these principal companies, opening the doors for a successful and rewarding career.”
