The U.S. Embassy in Sanaa will be closed to the public until further notice, the State Department announced late Wednesday.
The decision to suspend embassy operations was due to "recent attacks against Western interests in Yemen," the State Department stated via Twitter.
Despite the closure of the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki reiterated that the "U.S. remains firmly committed to supporting Yemen as it works to achieve meaningful reform."
There was no indication as to when the embassy will reopen.
