An Israeli government official on Sunday said his country intends to withdraw from the northern sector of a disputed Lebanese village. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will present the plan to quit from the village of Ghajar to U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon Monday, the AP reported.
A border drawn by the United Nations in 2000 split Ghajar between Lebanon and the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights. The Israeli leader is inclined to introduce the plan before a decision-making inner Cabinet next week.
It should be noted that UN Resolution 1701 requires Israel to cease all operations north of its border with Lebanon, including its withdrawal from the northern side of the disputed village.
