Fresh foreign trade data indicated that the value of Jordanian exports to EU countries rose by 45% to 155.6 million dinars (some US$218 million) in 2010 compared to 107 million dinars (US$150 million) in 2009. The kingdom's exports to the member countries of the European free trade, which includes Switzerland, Iceland and Norway, rose significantly in 2010 and hit 45.4 million dinars compared to 117 thousand dinars for the year 2009. Most of the trade was directed to Switzerland. Increased exports were posted to other European countries, to 23.5 million dinar compared to 19 million dinars in 2009, of which exports to Ukraine reached to 10.4 million dinars.
Meanwhile, the value of imports from EU countries increased by 1.4% to 2.1557 billion dinars in 2010 compared to 2.1254 billion dinars in 2009. Germany was ranked first in value with 656 million dinars, Italy and 378 million dinars, and France with 246 million dinars.
The value of imports from the member countries of the the European free trade amounted to98.3 million dinars, of which 94 million dinars from Switzerland.
