Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri insisted on Monday that he was the only candidate of his "Future" bloc to head the next cabinet. He added that any talk of a compromise candidate to head the next is an attempt "to throw dust in the eyes."
Hariri, in a statement issued by his press office, confirmed the right of every person to nominate himself for job"in accordance with the Constitution and the requirements of the democratic game." Stressing his candidacy, he pointed out that there is no consensus candidate with the Hizbullah-led March 8 forces. Hariri announced that "Future" would refuse to participate in any government headed by a candidate backed by "March 8" bloc.
Hariri made these comments as President Michel Suleiman started his consultations with the various political forces about who would head the next government.
