The head of the Palestinian government in Gaza Strip, Ismail Haniyeh, on Sunday announced the launch of a new project for the reconstruction of buildings destroyed by the recent Israeli war on the Gaza Strip two years ago. Haniyeh said during a speech at the opening ceremony of the International Forum for the Reconstruction of Gaza, which is held with the participation of local and international businessmen, that the foundation stone of this project will be laid within the next 48 hours.

He called on donor countries and international and Arab institutions to support the steadfastness of the Gaza Strip people, noting that under this project first phase all houses destroyed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip will be rebuilt.

The Hamas leader conveyed his government allocated US$ 1 million dollars monthly in addition to 80 percent of the taxes will be directed to rebuilding the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip. He said that the necessary funds for this project are available, considering that this "message we give to our people." He added: "We are now entering the stage of Construction Jihad, which is part of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people."

On Friday, a project to rebuild 100 houses of Palestinians from the northern Gaza town of Jabalya was launched. This project is financed by Kuwait. Israel launched two years ago a war on Hamas destroying over 2800 houses.
