Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday during a meeting with his Syrian peer that current regional situation is changing in favor of the nations' interests. Ahmadinejad discussed with Basher al-Assad the expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and said, "regional countries can work together multilaterally on economic fields and such cooperation is in favor of all regional nations not only economically but also politically."
On his part, the Syrian leader referred to Palestine's peace talks with Israel and said, "no change is made in peace process and the talks only seek support for the US President Barack Obama inside America."
Assad is accompanied by Syrian Vice President Faruq al-Shara and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem. The ISNA news agency said Ahmadinejad would present a "medal of valour" to the Syrian president, for his support in Hizbullah and Hamas.
