A small earthquake hit Lebanon Wednesday afternoon, naharnet reports. The 4.0 on the Richter scale quake was felt in Beirut, Sidon, parts of the north, and a few other areas. Some Lebanese noticed the shakes, as evident in social media. In true Lebanese fashion, many poked fun at the blast.
As a proud tectonic plate, I would like to condemn the earthquake in #Lebanon. It does not speak for the majority of us weak earthquakes.

And the top comment on the naharnet article claimed the quake was a joint Zionist-Wahabi attack on the Shia.
Naharnet reported that the government-run Bhannes National Center for Geophysical Research says Lebanon suffers from 600 small earthquakes yearly. The worst one in modern times was the 1956 Chim earthquake, which killed 136 people.
