Blair Imani, a Muslim activist who lives in London tweeted on Wednesday that she had faced an anti-Muslim discrimination act by an Uber driver.

In her tweet, Imani was reportedly asked by an Uber driver to cancel her trip before he picked her up because she is a Muslim.

Imani, an author who advocates for her “Black, queer and Muslim” identity, had faced discrimination earlier as she wrote in a Twitter thread. However, she proceeded with details that the Uber driver was black man, which “hurt” her.

Imani’s tweet was retweeted by hundreds of users and she received several comments from supporters and fans.

Imani has been earlier arrested in 2016 during a Black Lives Matter protest in the US and since then, she has started advocating for human rights. She has also founded a non-profit educational platform for women and nonbinary people.

Several people wished her safety and showed her support.

Many of the comments advised Imani to contact Uber company and file an official complaint so the driver will be punished for his racist act.

Meanwhile, Uber did not respond or comment on the matter.

Tell Mama UK, a UK-based organization that works to address the anti-Muslim hatred in the UK responded to Imani expressing their regret that Imani is facing such racist acts.

Despite the twitter storm, it should be noted that the facts of the case remain very unclear.
