She did choose on her own to star in the TV show “Al Ikhwah” (The Brothers) as the cheating wife, but that doesn't make her a bad person or a traitor to her gender, Rania Youssef assured. She selected the part because she likes to add spice and variety to the roles she plays. For example, the Egyptian actress portrayed the distressed wife in the drama “Mawjah Harah” (Heat Wave) last Ramadan, which was a totally opposite type of character.
According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, Rania was criticized for playing the role of a cheating Egyptian wife in a drama that is composed of actors from all around the Arab world, on the basis that she is insulting Egyptian women with such a role. She stressed that when she appears in such a role, it is merely a part she is playing behind the camera, and it does not represent Egyptian women. It is not logical to compare.
Rania says that despite the hectic filming schedule of the drama that's already on air, which she is still filming future scenes for, the positive feedback from television viewers makes her forget how exhausting her work can be.
