ALBAWABA - During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world are expected to fast from dawn until sunset, without consuming any type of food or water. Someone needs to make sure they stay hydrated during this time by drinking enough water during the non-fasting hours. But just what is the healthiest amount of water to drink in Ramadan?

Staying hydrated is crucial for overall health and well-being, regardless if someone happens to be fasting or not. The human body relies on water for a lot of bodily functions, such as regulating body temperature, helping in digestion, and flushing out toxins from the body. Dehydration can lead to a range of health issues, such as headaches, fatigue, dizziness, and a lack of concentration.

The general recommendation for daily water to drink is around eight 8-ounce glasses, which is about two liters or half a gallon. However, the amount of water each person needs can change depending on factors such as age, gender, weight, and what sort of life they have.

When breaking your fast at Iftar, start by drinking a glass of water to rehydrate your body. Try to drink water throughout the evening to replenish any lost fluids and prevent dehydration. Try to consume water in moderation to avoid overloading your stomach.

Besides simple plain water, you can also consume hydrating foods such as fruits and vegetables in your meals. Water-rich foods are ones such as cucumbers, watermelon, and oranges.

It is important to try and strike a balance between staying hydrated and avoiding consuming too much water, as that can put a strain on the kidneys. Listen to your body's cues and drink water when you feel thirsty, rather than waiting until you feel parched. Don't hesitate to seek a doctor or some kind of professional help if you find yourself struggling during Ramadan.
