ALBAWABA - Now that the much-awaited holy month of Ramadan has finally begun, some Muslims, are wondering about when is the best time to do sports, before or after Iftar?

While there is no definitive answer to this question, there are arguments made by experts.

Some could argue that working out before Iftar is better as fasting during the day can lead to low energy levels, so doing sports on an empty stomach would help burn excess fat and improve stamina.

Moreover, working out before Iftar can help to regulate blood sugar levels and prevent muscle loss.

On the other hand, some may prefer to schedule their workouts after breaking their fast, so as the body is replenished with needed nutrients and hydration, which improve performance and promote quicker recovery. Exercising in the evening also allows for a longer period to eat and drink before fasting begins again the next day.

Ultimately, the best time to engage in sports during Ramadan depends on the person, their schedule, and goals. That doesn't mean there isn't a right answer to the before or after Iftar question, it's just that the answer is different for each person.

Regardless of the timing, it is important to always prioritize safety and to listen to your body during Ramadan. It is recommended to start slowly increasing how hard your workouts are, while also paying attention to how your body responds to those changes. Remember to stay hydrated while eating balanced meals.

And lastly, don't hesitate to test out working out both before and after Iftar, and then see which works best for you.
