As we embark on this journey through the days of June, it is customary in many cultures and religions to offer prayers, supplications, and invocations to seek guidance, protection, and abundance for the days ahead.
*Dua*, the Arabic word for supplication or invocation, holds profound significance in Islam. It is a means through which believers communicate with their Creator, seeking guidance, forgiveness, and blessings. In this spirit, Muslims around the world embrace the arrival of each new month with prayers tailored to invoke divine mercy and grace.
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ قَالَ : ” اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْأَمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ، وَالتَّوْفِيقِ لِمَا يُحِبُّ رَبُّنَا وَيَرْضَى، رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ “. رواه الترمذي والدارمي.
Allah is the Most Great. O Allah, bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah. [Tirmidhi and Darimi]
Rabbana atina fi dunya hasanatan wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaba an-nar.
ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار
Rabbi hab lee min ladunka thuriyyatan tayyibatan innak sami’u-dua.
رب هب لي من لدنك ذرية طيبة إنك سميع الدعاء
My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.
O Allah, forgive all of my sins: the small and great, the first and the last, the public and the private.
