ALBAWABA - In partnership with the Authority of Social Contribution, Astra Tech, the top holding company for consumer technology in the Middle East and North Africa, has launched the artificial-intelligence-driven donation service, CharityGPT, on the Botim platform with the goal of improving the lives of children who are orphaned or do not have caregivers.
The first charity network in the region, based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, allows philanthropists to primarily provide health care and educational necessities for orphans in the United Arab Emirates, as well as contribute to the Ramadan campaign of the Emirates Red Crescent, which includes tents, food packages, and Iftar suppers.
Astra Tech describes CharityGPT’s release as “Embracing the giving spirit of Ramadan, Botim’s ‘CharityGPT’ allows users to make impactful contributions through simple text commands” according to Arabian Business.
Technology giant Astra Tech, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, earlier acquired Botim in Jan. last year, the most widely used voice-calling app in the Gulf region with 90 million registered and 25 million monthly active users, bringing it one move closer to developing an infrastructure that, according to Bloomberg, would include anything from online payments to instant messaging.
According to Khaleej Times, founder of Astra Tech and CEO of Botim, Abdallah Abu-Sheikh has commented on the new platform saying that it’s a “testament to how technology can be harnessed for good, extending our philanthropic reach and impacting society positively. While fear of job loss due to AI is a common concern, today we are demonstrating how we can instead harness its power to facilitate charity and positively impact millions of people around the world.”
