ALBAWABA - With their numerous uses and cooking methods, eggs are regular in many people's diets, but did you know that eggshells can be beneficial for your skin and plants?

Eggshells are the hard outer layer of the egg that is usually discarded after cracking it. However, they actually have several benefits that are often overlooked.

They contain a high percentage of calcium carbonate, which has various nutritional and household benefits. The calcium found in them can be beneficial for strong bones and teeth in humans.

What are the benefits of eggshells?

By simply boiling, drying, and grinding them into a fine powder, you can create a potent calcium supplement. This calcium supplement is more natural than other store-bought options.

It can be added to coffee, smoothies, or baked goods for an added dose of calcium.

They are an excellent natural source of nitrogen and can be used as a fertilizer to give plants the nutrients they need to grow better.

Additionally, they can be added to compost piles and break down quickly, releasing nitrogen into the soil. When added to garden soil, they promote a healthy garden by enriching the soil with vital nutrients.

Eggshells can also be used in skin care routines, where they offer excellent exfoliation benefits.

By crushing them into a fine powder and mixing them with water, you can create a gentle exfoliating scrub that removes dead skin cells. The calcium present in them helps maintain healthy skin and promotes collagen production.

Last but not least, an important benefit of them is repelling garden pests. Crushed eggshells spread around the edges or base of your garden to keep pests such as snails, slugs, and cutworms at bay, as sharp eggshells can be painful to them.

Eggshells have several benefits that can be used to promote healthy bones, plants, skin, and even pest control.

They are natural, cost-effective, and a great way to take advantage of something that would otherwise end up in the trash. Instead of tossing them, consider finding ways to reuse them to your advantage.

A YouTuber by the name of KenDBerryMD has done an educational video explaining the benefits of eggshells and the ways to prepare them safely.
