KidZania plane lands in Kuwait

After travelling over 14,000 kilometers from Mexico and taking more than 60 days to reach its final destination, M.H Alshaya Co. celebrated the safe ‘landing’ of a DC-9 airplane which will be situated at the entrance to KidZania in The Avenues Phase 3, due to open in 2012.

This April, Alshaya announced that it had entered into a partnership with KidZania, the award winning family entertainment and education brand and the arrival of the airplane marks a key milestone in the progress and development of KidZania Kuwait.

KidZania’s airplane represents the journey every child in Kuwait will make from Kuwait city to KidZania, or the ‘Land of Cool Kids’. The plane will be equipped with state-of-the-art flight simulators allowing children to experience the role of a Pilot – one of over 90 different role playing activities within the 5,000 square meter facility.

The concept comes to life when establishments within the facility, including the airplane are sponsored by local and / or international brands to reinforce the realism of the city. 

Commenting on this key project milestone, Kindah Yacob-Agha, KidZania Kuwait’s Marketing Sponsorship Manager said: “The arrival of our airplane is an exciting moment in the creation of the State of KidZania Kuwait.  We have already received great interest from Kuwait’s business community who appreciate KidZania is an experiential marketing platform which will strengthen brand loyalty with the next generation of Kuwait’s consumers”.

At over 18 meters long, the 8-tonne airplane took over 3 hours to travel the last leg of its journey from Shuwaikh Port to its final resting place at The Avenues where it was carefully winched into position.
