Fujitsu announces major upgrade to PRIMERGY ServerView Suite
Fujitsu today launched the latest version of its proven server management solution, the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite. In today's challenging climate, IT needs to provide constant, high performance support to businesses of all sizes. The ServerView Suite delivers this by providing simple, fast and cost-effective centralized management of both physical and virtual IT infrastructures based on Fujitsu's PRIMERGY servers and ETERNUS storage systems. In doing so, it improves end-user productivity via intelligent and innovative system management solutions, helping businesses optimally to deploy, control, dynamize, maintain, and integrate their IT.
PRIMERGY ServerView Suite is already supporting thousands of businesses across the globe. The new enhancements ensure it continues to lead the market by making IT management easier, saving businesses time and money. Based on user feedback and market advances, the upgrade includes improved usability, new state of the art security and user management features, increased support for virtualized resource management, including the Common Information Model (CIM) and Citrix XenServer environment, along with new features to cost-effectively manage standalone servers.
A completely redesigned user interface provides improved usability, enabling administrators to be more productive and effective through an innovative, easy-to-use navigation system. Customers will also benefit from the introduction of role-based user management and single sign on services that cover all ServerView components. These enable simpler and more efficient IT management, backed up with the highest levels of security. Interfaces to existing Directory Services enable servers to integrate easily into overall IT environments, ensuring compliance with business-wide IT security policies.
More and more businesses are combining physical and virtual resources into their server architectures. ServerView ensures all of these resources can be managed from the same solution, with significant enhancements for VMware and Citrix XenServer users.
ServerView now supports the CIM management standard, making it possible to monitor and manage VMware ESXi-based environments more reliably and securely. Administrators can view all physical and virtual machines through a single interface, with automatic grouping of ESXi hosts making administration simpler. Support for the Citrix XenServer server virtualization platform has also been extended. Full support of the Citrix Pooling concept is combined with consistent representation of machines running XenServer, ensuring they match the XenCenter management interface.
Management of geographically dispersed standalone servers, such as in branch offices, has been made more efficient with the introduction of the ServerView System Monitor. This new component features a very small memory footprint and provides constant server monitoring. Status information is supplied via a local display, while it warns of server failure through physical alarms. This makes it easy to use by non-IT experts, cutting administration costs while still delivering comprehensive management capabilities. ServerView System Monitor supports all PRIMERGY Servers running ServerView Agents for Windows.
Chandan Mehta, Product Manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, says: "Technology is at the heart of delivering competitive advantage for businesses of all sizes, and ensuring consistent, cost-effective management is key to outstanding performance. These enhancements to the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite further strengthen the competitiveness of our overall PRIMERGY portfolio for delivering more efficient IT for businesses of all sizes."
The PRIMERGY ServerView Suite is now shipping globally with every new PRIMERGY server. Users can download ServerView free of charge and install in less than 30 minutes at: http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html.
