Etisalat holds GT Open Day at Etisalat Academy

Etisalat held its GT Open Day attracting fresh graduates from the National Training Program. The event is aimed at young nationals to better understand the telecom sector and Etisalat in particular. It also seeks to help them take advantage of the opportunities that the industry offers and create channels of open feedback and communication with the graduates in order to develop the program.

The National Training Program is one of the main development programs in Etisalat that is designed to target fresh young national graduates. The program provides them with the opportunity to learn and develop, while exploring their potentials and capabilities. The program attracts all specialties in demand in the telecommunication industry.

Etisalat hopes to develop these young graduates as future leaders. This will ensure the company will have the right people, with right skills, at the right time, to accomplish future business objectives.

More than 150 guests attended the GT Open Day held at Etisalat Academy in Abu Dhabi today. Commenting on the occasion, Faiez Awadh, Senior Vice President - Human Resources of Etisalat, said: "This event is a gathering of over 100 graduates who were recruited in the program in 2010 and 2011 in addition to those who finished their university degrees while working in the organization and consequently joined the GT program. The program develops and trains its employees by conducting workshops that aim to inform them of the latest developments in the telecommunications sector in general and Etisalat in particular".

"These youngsters are the future of the organization and we believe that the program motivates them to cope with the fast pace of development in the telecom sector. It encourages them to commit to their responsibility to the country and to the organization, and benefit from the opportunities presented to them for a bright future. The program attracts fresh graduates from all fields. We listen to their feedback and suggestions to develop the program and to facilitate effective communication between them and the management" he added.

Etisalat also expects to ensure the new national recruit has the combination of awareness, skills knowledge and attitude that enables them to perform a job to the required standards. 

The program involves providing 15 months of training to the young national graduates with an opportunity of learning and development. Professional supervisors helps the graduates discover their potential on how they can positively contribute within areas of specialty. Overall, it will involve effective, efficient and specialized training plan followed by training modules quarterly. 

Etisalat trains around 6,000 employees every year through the Etisalat Academy and external training platforms. Etisalat is one of the largest employers of key talent in the UAE. It recruits more than 9,000 employees, 35 per cent of whom are UAE nationals, making Etisalat the one of the largest companies to employ local talent. Moreover, 90 per cent of Etisalat’s senior management are from the UAE.
