The Syrian acting community, last week, were mourning the loss of one of their own, Sobhi al Rifai. Among mourners hit most by the loss was son actor Wael Sharaf.
Actors, directors and producers paid their respects to the late legend Subhi Al Rifai, who passed away at 67, after suffering a major heart attack. Subhi’s son Wael Sharaf received condolences for his father, unable to hide signs of his distress and extreme grief.
Among the stars present were Al Muthana Subh, Bassam Al Mala, Mohammad Al Shaikh Najib, Saleem Sabri, Qais Al Shaikh Najib, Talhat Hamdi, Saleem Kalas, Ghada Bashour and others known faces.
Actor Saleem Kalas paid tribute to his peer in an interview with MBC.net that the loss of Subhi was an unexpected blow to their community. He added that Subhi was a very good friend and a man known for his good nature, always striving to help others. He was rated a very talented actor. Saleem prayed that Subhi’s soul rest in peace and that God give strength to his family at this time.
Subhi had made a significant contribution to television drama. He will be remembered most for his part in the classic hit series “Bab Al Hara” (The Neighborhood Door). He played leading roles in “Matloob Rijal” (Men Wanted), “Abu Kamel” and many other soaps that gave audiences months of pleasurable viewing.
