Steven Spielberg’s spokesman, Marvin Levy, called the report circulating on the Internet claiming that the director is planning a DreamWorks film about the Palestinian uprising as "an obvious, vicious hoax," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The site said that the bogus news story was attributed to them and carried the bylines of fictitious reporters. It was posted on several news lists and also forwarded to several Canadian-based news organizations as well as Jewish political-action groups and other activists.
Hollywood Reporter added that under a headline that read "Spielberg to direct feature based on Palestinian Uprising," the false news story purported to quote Spielberg speaking out on behalf of the Palestinians and criticizing both Israel and Hollywood.
Earlier, a number of newspapers and TV channels reported that Steven Spielberg said, “As an American director and happen to be Jew too, I cannot keep silent about what the Israelis and Zionist movement are doing in the name of Judaism and with the help of money we pay as taxes,” adding that “the sad history of the holocaust is repeating itself in Palestine by those who claim that they carry out their actions in the name of Judaism.”
The reports added that Spielberg condemned Hollywood directors who refrained from tackling the Palestinian issue “fearing of what is described as blind support for Israel by Hollywood. This action has come despite the fact that these directors tackle liberal issues,” the reports quoted the director as saying – Albawaba.com
