Egyptian singer Shireen Wajdi has succeed in taking back a CD that was confiscated by police authorities, and that contains the original recordings of the new songs for her upcoming album to be produced by the music production company ‘Rotana.’

She had submitted an official request to the police stating that the CD cannot be considered as evidence in the case against her husband, who is accused of money laundry and embezzlement, and that it contains music for which she owns the copyrights.

According to the London based Elaph, police officials agreed to Shireen’s request and returned the CD. When the singer went to the police station to pick up her CD, she was able to visit with her incarcerated husband, Ehab Tal’at.

Ehab has submitted a plea to decrease his sentence.  He may be released on the condition that he pays back 29 million Egyptian pounds, and he plans on selling most of his assets to try and muster the fine.

Sources close to Shireen reported, when she deposited a check from her production company ‘Rotana,’ her bank refused to cash the check and transferred it directly to Egyptian authorities due to the her husband’s investigation. The check, which amounted to 230 Egyptian pounds, was immediately confiscated.

When the situation became clear, Ehab and Shireen attempted to leave Egypt on their private chartered jet, but Egyptian authorities prevented them from departing. Both she and her husband have been forbidden to leave Egypt, and the couple’s assets have been seized.
