Moroccan singer Samira Said and the Algerian Rai singer Cheb Mami collaborated for the first time in the duet Yawm Wara Yawm (Day After Day) which will be released in Europe and the US in addition to the Arab world.
“Although it was scheduled for me to sing Day After Day alone for my new album, I found the song suitable for a duet. I met with Cheb Mami and we agreed on everything. We began shooting the duet in Cairo and wrapped it up this week. The song director, Sherif Sabri surprised me by bringing an English dancing trainer who works for Spice Girls troupe. That was very difficult because movements were many and needing time to master. The restriction of my movements during performance was very difficult. I did not commit myself with certain movements because I do not like to be restricted by nature and so they left me alone to perform as I felt suitable,” Said told the Kuwaiti daily al Rai al A’m.
She added, “the duet will be released in Europe and the US and two weeks after that it will be released in the Arab region through my new album. This does not scare me but rather delights me because it is a new kind of work in addition to the fact that it has been completely planned and there is not a single type of adventure that would scare me -- Albawaba.com
