ALBAWABA - A lawyer for Foolio, a rapper from Jacksonville whose actual name is Charles Jones, confirmed the shooting death of his client early Sunday morning in Tampa.

Authorities received an alert about a gunshot at a Tampa hotel a couple of hours before daylight. When authorities arrived at the site, they found two automobiles shot in the parking lot.

The Tampa Police Department announced the death of one person, later identified as Jones. The hospital is also treating three more casualties, all of whom are in stable condition.

The shooting's motivation and the identities of those involved are still under investigation, according to the police.

On the night of his fatal shooting, Jones posted a video on his Instagram account to celebrate his birthday. On Saturday night, the 26-year-old rapper—who had 1 million followers—shared a video promoting a pool party. He instructed his fans to send him a direct message with the address.

Police had "shut us down and kicked us out" of their Airbnb, he reported later that night.

According to a statement from his lawyer, Lewis Fusco, Jones allegedly suffered an attack in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn after moving there.

Along with the announcement of his new album "Resurrection" in April, Jones said on his Instagram that he has already overcome "multiple attempts on my life."

At the time of his shooting, Jones had been making music since 2015 and had about 1 million monthly Spotify listeners.
