81-year-old legendary actor Omar Sharif will be returning to the big screen in a French-Moroccan film this year.

The film, “Rock the Casbah,” will be directed by Moroccan director Layla Markashi. The name comes from British band The Clash's 1982 song, a derivative or allusion to The Beatles formative haunt.

Starring alongside Sharif will be renowned 'Caramel' Lebanese director Nadine Labaki, Palestinian actress Hiam Abbas, Murjana Al Ilwi and Lubna Aryal.

According to the Middle East news portal Elaph, the film is a light comedy revolving around a father's funeral (Sharif) and his family. The film will look at how his family, composed of three women, spend three days mourning the death of Omar. Hardly LOL subject matter but the macaarbre takes a backseat to the comic relief.

At first, the film's initial title was "Janazat Party" (Funeral Party), before it was given a jovial makeover with its current title “Rock the Casbah.”

This is Layla's first film since her last one in 2005.
