Copies of a dress by a UAE-based fashion designer that was worn by Nicole Scherzinger on reality TV show 'The X Factor UK' are set to go on sale in Dubai, writes Sarwat Nasir.
The former Pussycat Doll was seen sporting the AIISHA custom-made gown on the live show this week.
The Lebanese designer behind the brand, Aiisha Ramadan, told 7DAYS she only discovered the ‘X Factor’ judge was wearing her dress when Scherzinger tweeted her saying she had donned an AIISHA design.
Ramadan said: “She looked absolutely beautiful in it. I was really happy she wore the dress.”
Ramadan counts singers Christina Aguilera and Ashanti, actress Carmen Electra and socialite Paris Hilton among her customers. However, she added: “Dressing stars does not define the designer, but it does help to spread the word.”
Copies of the dress worn by Scherzinger will go on sale in two weeks at the Frost Boutique in Al Wasl Square with a price tag of Dhs24,000. The dresses will also be available to hire. Ramadan said she would like to see celebrities such as Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj wearing outfits from her collection.
“They are crazy, but who are we to judge? I would love to see them wearing AIISHA,” she said. Ramadan founded AIISHA in 2007 with a base in Sharjah, and her main HQ remains there. The brand has since grown and she has a ready-to-wear range on sale in Iconic stores in the UAE, with more affordable prices ranging from Dhs295 to Dhs1,500.
She will soon will be retailing her designs in New York.
